Three Ideas on Day #1

I want to introduce three key ideas that could help support our outreach efforts on day one—these are just the first of many to come:

Outreach Office Hours

Our local organizing units do incredible work, but they shouldn’t have to figure everything out alone. I want to set up dedicated office hours where outreach officers and any DFL leaders can connect with me 1:1 or in small groups to support planning outreach strategies. While meetings provide space for discussion, these regular, open sessions would ensure our local leaders have direct access to guidance, resources, and problem-solving support. With nearly a decade of experience leading a national organization focused on bringing new voters into the party, I can serve as a valued partner in developing strategies and action plans to build our party.

Community and Consistency-Based Toolkits

We must equip our organizing units with practical tools to engage underrepresented communities effectively. I want to work with community caucuses, organizations, and advocacy groups to develop toolkits that provide cultural competency insights and organizing strategies tailored to different communities. These resources will ensure that DFL outreach is thoughtful, informed, and impactful, helping us build deeper trust and engagement across Minnesota.

Year-Round Community Engagement Best Practices

We can’t afford to engage with communities only during election years. I want to work with interested organizing units, community caucuses, and organizations to develop best practices for sustained, year-round engagement. By maintaining relationships outside of campaign cycles, we can expand our party’s reach, strengthen trust, bring new people into the party, and ensure that the DFL remains a party representing and serving all Minnesotans. Together, we can create a model and resources for the sustained engagement we need to grow our party and win elections.
